Home field advantage wasn’t enough for USAO’s softball team to pull off an upset over No. 16 Oklahoma City in either game of Tuesday afternoon’s doubleheader.
The Drovers struggled at the plate in their first game against the Stars as Oklahoma City pitcher Ashley Wilburn threw a no-hitter.
Michelle Bauer started out in the circle Tuesday afternoon for USAO and threw three strikeouts in her 2.2 innings in the game. Chancie Godwin came in during the third and gave up only one earned run.
The Lady Drovers came out a bit stronger in the second game. Third baseman Jenna Findley hit two of three, but never made it home.
Ashley Sanders hit one of three and scored a run, and Hillary Brown scored the Drovers second run in the same inning.
Ashlyn Kimberly pitched a complete game, giving up only three earned runs against the Top 20 Oklahoma City. She pitched three strikeouts as well.USAO falls to 10-18 overall and 1-11 in the conference. The team takes on Oklahoma Christian on Thursday for a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at Bill Smith Ballpark.
