USAO continued to test itself against some of the top softball teams in the NAIA as the Drovers welcomed Sooner Athletic Conference rival St. Gregory’s University for a doubleheader Thursday night in Chickasha. The Drovers lost 7-1 in the opener and fell 2-1 in the nightcap.

The University of Science and Arts evened its 2016 softball record by winning three-of-four games in a tournament they hosted Friday and Saturday. USAO was 7-4 winners against Tabor, 1-0 winners against Hastings and 6-3 winners against Friends University. Hastings beat USAO 6-5 in the final game of the tournament.

The 2016 softball season for the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma opened Tuesday as the Drovers tested themselves on the road against an Oklahoma Christian that had already played seven games this spring. The untested Drovers were beaten 8-0 and 9-8 in the doubleheader. The Eagles improved to 4-5 with the sweep.

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma is predicted to finish third in the 2016 Sooner Athletic Conference softball standings, according to votes cast by the coaches in the annual pre-season poll.

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma softball team will begin the 2016 season as the NAIA’s 13th ranked team, according to results from the NAIA Softball Coaches’ Preseason Top 25 poll. The Drovers, under the leadership of Coach Jadyn Wallis, received 305 points to finish just outside the top 10.

CHICKASHA – The Sooner Athletic Conference announced the winter and spring sports Academic All-Conference list with 20 Drovers recognized for their academic achievements.
