CHICKASHA – After a strong week for both Drover basketball teams, USAO swept this week’s top conference player honors.

Aita Gueye and Sahlih Butts both were named this week’s Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

Aita Gueye

Gueye has helped lead the Drovers to three wins, including a 64-62 upset over No. 17 Point Loma Nazarene this week.

Averaging 16 points a game this week, Gueye scored 10 against Point Loma and another 22 the next day against MidAmerica Nazarene.

For the season, she has 12 rebounds, 12 assists, 12 steals and five blocks. She is ranked No. 35 in the division in steals per game (3) and 38th in total steals (12).

Gueye, a business senior from Dakar, Senegal, is playing her third season at USAO. She is the daughter of Massaer Gueye and Deguene Diagne.

Sahlih Butts
In the four games this season, Butts has had three double doubles, including two last week against McPherson College and Langston University. He averaged 22.5 points and 13 rebounds a game last week.

He goes into the team’s fifth game with 49 total rebounds, seven assists, 11 steals and five blocks.

He ranks in the top 10 in the country in rebounds per game (12.25), defensive rebounds per game (8.25), total rebounds (49), total 3-pointers made (14) and 3-pointers made per game (3.5).

Butts is a physical education senior from Broken Arrow, Okla., who came to USAO this season from Drury University. He is the son of Brenda Moftise.
