CHICKASHA – Three Drovers stood out with double digit points in Monday night’s USAO women’s basketball home opener against Texas Wesleyan.
Liberty Payne, a newcomer who has been practicing with the team since winter break, came out as the team’s leading scorer with 14 points. Following close behind were juniors Tashina Ototivo and Sharnice Reed with 11 points each.
Ototivo also came in as USAO’s leading rebounder, grabbing nine in the game. Junior Alaria Waddle had another eight rebounds for the Drovers.
Despite the Drovers’ efforts, Texas Wesleyan bested the Drovers 64-53. USAO’s record is 1-2 overall.
The Drovers head to the Benedictine Classic on the weekend of Nov. 18 to take on two teams and will play an exhibition at Central Oklahoma on Nov. 29 before returning home for conference play against No. 3 Oklahoma City at 6 p.m. on Dec. 1.
The Drover men play their home opener at 7 p.m. Wednesday against Central Oklahoma.
