CHICKASHA — The USAO women found themselves battling for a conference win with Wayland Baptist on Saturday afternoon in a game that saw the first Drover double double of the season.

Senior Liberty Payne grabbed 13 points and 12 rebounds — her first double double at USAO and the team’s first of the season — in the 71-56 defeat. But it was sophomore Paige Pulliam who was the team’s leading scorer with 17 points in game.

The Drovers led for the first 10 minutes, but the short bench was able to overcome once falling behind the Flying Queens.

The women move to 3-8 overall and 0-4 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

They open the New Year with a home game against Lubbock Christian at 1 p.m. Monday.  It’s Black Out the Eagles day at the USAO Fieldhouse and Drovers fans are invited to participate by wearing black to the game.
