Two Lady Drovers were named basketball All-Conference athletes in the Sooner Athletic Conference this week.
Lady Drover Charitie Lewis was honored with All-SAC Second Team for her success at forward this season. Lewis, a senior from Cushing, scored 412 points for the Drovers this season.
The 5-foot-9 athlete grabbed 257 rebounds over the course of the season, earning her a No. 22 ranking in total rebounds in the division. Her rebounds, which average 8.57 a game, earned her the No. 1 spot in the conference in average rebounds per game. She holds the No. 2 spot in the SAC in total rebounds.
Additionally, Lewis is No. 1 in the conference in total double doubles after having nine in the season. She’s third in the conference in total points and fourth in points per game with 13.73.
Lewis had a career-high 28 points against Saint Gregory’s in the team’s second-to-last game of the season.
Lewis is a physical education student.
The Sooner Athletic Conference recognized Danielle Cota for her talent off the court as well. Cota was named an Academic All-SAC.
The art junior transferred to USAO in 2009 because the university suited her both academically and athletically.
Cota played in 27 games as a guard, racking up a total of 70 points for the Drovers. Her career-high 11 points came against Dallas Christian at the beginning of the season. She had five steals against Esslesia University, also in October.
Cota is from El Paso, Texas.
