CHICKASHA – The big theme for the night was getting to the free throw line for the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma and led to another Drover victory on Thursday night in Shawnee.
With a 15-for-21 performance, the Drovers (5-13, 4-11) grab the season sweep of Saint Gregory’s University.
The big sword in the side of the Cavaliers was Paige Pulliam, who led the team with 21 points after going 10-for-11 at the charity stripe in the 72-65 win over SGU.
Pulliam also shot 50 percent from beyond the arc to contribute to her 21-point performance and also led the team with eight rebounds, six assists and three steals on the game.
The Drovers had two other players in double figures with Amber Chaney finishing the game with a season-high 17-point performance, and Rashelle Carr scoring 15 in the game. Carr also contributed six rebounds for the Drovers.
The team made a big impact on the floor, holding the lead for nearly the entire game, Saint Gregory’s only had the lead for two minutes in the second half, but then USAO follow with its biggest lead at 11 with 3:54 left in the game.
USAO shot a team season high 49 percent on Thursday, including a 59 percent in the final 20 minutes.
The Drovers head home for a Saturday afternoon game against No. 16 John Brown University, tipping off at 3 p.m. It is USAO’s annual Sponsor Day, and employees from USAO basketball sponsoring businesses will receive free admission to the game. Chickasha’s Love to Dance Studio has three solos set to perform at halftime.
