CHICKASHA – Coming from a basketball family, it’s no wonder Paige Pulliam has gotten so much playing time her freshman year at USAO.
“I didn’t expect to come out here and play this much, but I am,” said Pulliam, a 5’7 guard. “I work hard and that’s all I can say.”
Pulliam’s father is a coach at Newcastle High School and has been coaching all her life. Pulliam’s first basketball game to attend was when she was just three days old.
“So, growing up, it was really hard. My dad was always the coach, and so he sees everything from the coaching view instead of the father view,” she said.
But it wasn’t just her father who taught her about the game. She gives her sister a lot of the credit.
“I learned everything from her, actually. We’d go to the gym and I’d rebound for her,” Pulliam said. “I watched her follow through and that’s really where I got my shot from is from her.”
