In Saturday afternoon's conference game against the No. 16 Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm, the Drover women fought tough before falling in the second half.
The Drover women kept up with the Storm for the whole first half of the game, entering halftime down 25-21. But the short bench proved to be the Drovers’ downfall as they fell 56-41.
Sophomore Paige Pulliam had racked up 16 points in the first half but, catching on to her game, SNU was able to keep her quiet in the second half. Pulliam ended the game as USAO’s leading scorer with 17 points.
Liberty Payne and Tashina Ototivo each had eight points and eight rebounds.
The loss pulls the Drovers to 2-6 overall. The team will take a break for the winter holiday before returning to practice on Dec. 26 and to play at the Southern Nazarene Classic on Dec. 28-29. Their next home game will be another conference match against Wayland Baptist at 1 p.m. Dec. 31.
