CHICKASHA – The NAIA Mid-States Classic proved to be a strong race for the Drover women, who set their season and career bests in the Saturday morning race in Winfield, Kan.
As a team, the Drovers finished 24th of 29 with a total time of 1:54:05.83, or 22:49.17 average.
USAO’s fastest runner, Deborah Park, finished the 5-kilometer race in 20:57.21, nearly 30 seconds faster than her career best set earlier this season. With Saturday’s race, she comes in fourth in school history in fastest 5K.
Four other Drovers, all freshmen, finished with their personal bests as well. Kylie Parker, who was the second Drover to cross the finish line, finished in 21:51.86, seconds faster than her previous best.
Aspen Burroughs was next to finish for USAO, completing the race in 23:09.03, and was followed closely by Joanna Burkhead at 23:23.35.
Emily Albrecht also recorded her fastest time. Crossing the finish line in 30:12.13, she completed the race a minute and a half earlier than her previous personal best.
Also with a good race was senior Katie Jones, who finished in 24:44.38 with her season’s best race. Rachel Moses finished in 24:57.40.
It was the Drovers last race before the Sooner Athletic Conference Championship meet on Nov. 9 at Oklahoma Baptist.
