CHICKASHA – USAO’s Jade Ovendale was named Sooner Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Monday after netting four goals in two games.
After scoring the USAO’s only goal in a home loss to John Brown on Tuesday, Ovendale scored a hat trick — with an assist — to lead the Drovers to their first conference win on the road at Saint Gregory’s.
In total, Ovendale has 10 goals and four assists on the season, leading the team in both categories. She also is responsible for both the Drovers’ game-winning goals for the season.
She is 14th in the NAIA in shots per game, averaging nearly six a game. She is also No. 26 in the NAIA and tied for second in the SAC in goals per game with an average of one a game.
SAC Player of the Week candidates are nominated by their schools and voted on by a small committee composed of conference Sports Information Directors.
Ovendale, a junior from Wisbech, England, joined the Drovers this season after two years at Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa.
She is a physical education junior and the daughter of Tracey Ovendale.
