CHICKASHA – Following a NAIA National quarterfinals appearance for the men and another winning season for the women, Coach Jimmy Hampton is confident his teams can be just as good if not better this upcoming season.

“On the women, we have a chance to be much better than last year,” he said. “With the players coming back and the experience they gained, with the freshman coming in we definitely added some talent.”

The Drover men enter the season tied for first in the Sooner Athletic Conference and 15th in the NAIA polls, but the players already have their sights higher.

“I think if you ask any one of those guys, we’d like to win a national title. That’s our goal,” Hampton said. “Whether or not we reach it, we’ll know a little bit more in November, but I think we have some talent and definitely could make some noise.”

The teams play their first exhibition games at home on Tuesday. Kick off is 3:30 p.m. for the women and 5:30 p.m. for the men. They each play another exhibition the following day before opening the season on the road on Sept. 3.
