CHICKASHA – With the Drover women’s soccer season starting off less than ideal, senior Lauren Carter said that just makes the team want to work harder and follow through with all 90 minutes of a game.

‘It’s definitely been a rough start. Our record doesn’t really reflect us as a team I feel like,” Carter said. “We are really trying to come together as a team and finish the game strong and get another win.”

Carter played soccer for USAO in 2010 before taking time off to focus on school. The coaches contacted her personally this year to see if she would join the team her final semester.

“I just knew that was exactly where I was supposed to be, and I’m so excited at the opportunity,” she said. “I can’t imagine what I would have done without soccer this semester.”

Carter, a communication senior, has been busy with high-profile internships to expand her horizon and maintains them in addition to school and soccer responsibilities.

“Last summer, I got to spend a few months in New York and I got to intern with Marie Claire magazine … riding the subway and just being totally out of my element, I totally loved it,” Carter said. “And this semester, I’m actually interning at the Thunder, which is incredible to get to be a part of such an organization.”

Carter is also the editor of The Trend, USAO’s student produced news source. She is set to graduate in December.

NOTE: We will not have a new In the Saddle on Oct. 17 because of the university's fall break. Please tune in on Oct. 24!
