CHICKASHA – Despite an early lead, the Drover women could not overcome the No. 20 Oklahoma City Stars on Senior Day on Friday at Drover Pitch.
The Stars (12-4, 8-1) stopped a three-game shutout streak for the Drovers (5-10, 4-5).
In the first 15 minutes of the game, Jade Ovendale scored her 17th goal of the season off a pass by senior Linda Addo.
The Drovers maintained their lead through the half, but OCU’s offensive dominance eventually wore on USAO, who let two goals slip by them. The Stars had a total of 24 shots, compared to USAO’s nine.
Goalkeeper Addie Lee had five saves in the game.
The Drovers will play at Northwood on Tuesday afternoon to finish off the regular season.
It was USAO’s last regular season home game, and it was Senior Day. USAO honored its three seniors, Fran Monfron, Lauren Carter and Linda Addo.
The Drovers may qualify for the Sooner Athletic Conference tournament. For post-season schedule and results, see USAO’s athletic site, usao.edu/sports.
