CHICKASHA – USAO Soccer announces the High School and Team Residential Soccer Camp, which will take place July 14-16 on the university’s campus.
Hosted by the USAO soccer coaches and led by camp director Jimmy Hampton, the camp spans three days of intensive soccer training while giving campers an opportunity to live on campus.
The camp is for both individuals and for high school teams, which assistant camp director Alexis Vizarelis said is an opportunity for development across every aspect of the sport.
“Our camp is unique in the fact that focus is not only placed on the individual improving his or her skills, but also we emphasize improving the whole team’s ability to both defend and attack,” Vizarelis said. “USAO Camp traditionally is an excellent way for teams to prepare for their seasons.”
The camp offers soccer players the opportunity to enhance the individual and team skills that are vital for success at the club, high school, ODP or collegiate levels. It includes training sessions, work in USAO’s swimming pool, a 6-v-6 tournament and evening games.
Campers will have adult staff living in the residence hall, providing 24-hour supervision, as well as a trainer who will be on duty during sessions.
Goalkeepers are not left out of the camp. There is special goalkeeper training that is separate from field players. In that training, campers focus on basic technique and handling, footwork, mobility and positioning, shot stopping and crosses and distribution.
Players can attend the camp as an individual or in high school teams of 13 players or more. An individual registration is $285. Team rates, which include discounts for additional players, can be found by emailing Vizarelis at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Costs include meals, two nights of lodging, a t-shirt, a soccer ball and a written evaluation.
It is the 11th year the soccer program has hosted a residential soccer camp. Past campers include players competing at the NAIA, NCAA Division I and national levels.
