CHICKASHA – Having completely turned their season around, the Drover women had no problem overtaking Friends University on Friday afternoon, beating the Falcons 6-1.
The Drovers, who outshot the Falcons 32-7, struck first with a header by freshman Ryah Vyse off an assist by Taylor Fain just 15 minutes into the game.
Close to halftime, Fain then scored the Drovers’ second goal off an assist by Megan Wilkerson. The Drovers entered halftime leading 2-0.
But just minutes after the second half started, Friends’ Kashmere Suck found the goal.
With a score of 2-1, senior Calli Cooper scored an unassisted goal to give the Drovers back their two-goal lead.
Within a minute of each other, Erin Coggan and Linda Addo scored two more goals to add to USAO’s total. Fran Monfron assisted Coggan’s goal, while Addo scored unassisted after controlling the ball from mid-field.
Daisy Simms added fuel to the fire with a goal just five minutes before the game was over. Vanessa Yates assisted her goal. The Drovers won 6-1.
Freshman goalkeeper Brooke Worcester had two saves in the game. She earned her sixth win.
The Drovers advance to a 6-4 record after winning their last six games.
The Falcons were the Drovers last non-conference opponent. They will continue with conference action at home against Rogers State at 4 p.m. Tuesday.
