CHICKASHA – After a first conference title and national tournament appearance in 2011, the Drover women start this season ranked nationally, coming in 24th in the NAIA 2012 Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Preseason Poll, which was released Tuesday.

USAO is one of two Sooner Athletic Conference teams to appear in the Top 25, with Oklahoma City in the No. 11 spot. The Drovers came in second to OCU in the SAC Preseason Poll.

While the Drovers lost several starters since last year, there will be little time for adjustment as they start the season against Baker College, who is ranked sixth in the NAIA. That game is slated for 3 p.m. Aug. 24 at Drover Pitch.

Head coach Jimmy Hampton has brought in several freshmen and international students to help form this year’s squad.

USAO ended the 2011 season at 15-6, ranked No. 21 in the NAIA.

The NAIA’s next poll will be released Sept. 4.

Fall classes begin at USAO on Aug. 27.
