CHICKASHA – The Drover women grabbed their first win of the season with a 4-1 rout over Lyon College on Saturday morning at Drover Pitch on USAO’s campus.

The Drovers got off to a quick lead when freshman Daisy Simms found senior Erin Coggan for a first goal just 10 minutes into the game.

About 15 minutes later, freshman Britani Soesbee grabbed her third goal of the season off an assist by Megan Wilkerson to increase the USAO lead.

Up 2-0 at half, senior Calli Cooper sweetened the lead with an unassisted goal 10 minutes into half. Another 10 minutes passed before Taylor Fain knocked in the fourth and final goal off a corner kick.

Despite letting a goal slip by at the 75-minute mark, the Drover won 4-1. USAO definitely put the pressure on its opponents all game, outshooting the Scots 28-12.

Freshman Brooke Worcester collected five saves and her first collegiate win in Saturday’s match.

The Drovers head to Fort Worth to take on Texas Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Tuesday before returning home to play Northwood University at 5 p.m. Friday at Drover Pitch. The women play after the men in both games.
