The University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma invites all alumni to celebrate 50 years of Drover Athletics.

The University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma invites all alumni to celebrate 50 years of Drover Athletics Nov. 3-5 during the 2023 homecoming weekend. This year’s celebration will honor athletes throughout the university’s history. The weekend will feature special guests including Coach John Hudson and other members of the first men’s basketball team, the 50th anniversary of the Class of 1973, and all other members of the USAO family.

Registration for the full weekend is $60 and includes a branded swag bag, two drink tickets, Saturday brunch, popcorn at the Saturday afternoon tailgate party and a ticket to that night’s “Wish You Were Here” reception and concert at Legends Pubhouse. Registration for the brunch and awards ceremony only is $30. Participants must register by Oct. 27 at usao.edu/homecoming.

The 2023 inductees into the USAO Alumni Hall of Fame are Dr. Michelle Blake, a 2003 graduate and member of USAO’s first women's soccer team, and Dr. Stan Brown, a 2002 grad and member of the Drover basketball team. Scott Parkinson, a 2013 grad and current head assistant coach of OL Reign in Seattle, Wash., will receive the Young Alumni Award.

“Since its beginning in 1973, Drover Athletics has developed into a strong and proud tradition of excellence in the same mold as this university’s exceptional academics!” said Dawn Brockman, director of alumni relations and university development. “We kick things off in earnest with registration and happy hour from 4-5 p.m. on Friday at the newly renovated deck outside Davis Hall. Your first drink is on us as we gather with old friends and catch up on all that has transpired since we last met.”

The 2023 homecoming weekend features various athletic offerings and alumni golf. The scholarship recognition and awards brunch will spotlight 50 years of Drover Athletics as well as USAO’s best and brightest, while Sunday’s memorial is a reminder of the school’s illustrious past. After Saturday’s brunch, attendees are invited to stay in the Ballroom and participate in a photo identification project hosted by Nash Library. Other events will include stargazing at the USAO Habitat Area and the debut of “Unfinished Business,” a documentary looking back on the brotherhood that helped earn USAO its first national championship.
