9TH ANNUAL PROM BOUTIQUE TO BE HELD MARCH 9

The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma’s ninth annual Prom Boutique will be held Saturday, March 9, from 10 a.m. to noon. The boutique will be set up in Station 82, located in the Student Center basement on the USAO campus.

Funded through donations from the public, this community outreach program was created to help high school junior and senior girls who may be in need during prom season. It provides all sizes and styles of dresses, shoes and accessories to local low-income students completely free of charge.

The Prom Boutique is free and open to the public; all attire is first come, first serve.

“The Prom Boutique has become a wonderful opportunity for our students to give back to the community of Chickasha and the surrounding area in a concrete way,” said Nancy Hughes, dean of students. “A prom dress can cost hundreds of dollars and we believe that financial concerns shouldn’t prohibit anyone from enjoying such a special event. Over the last three years we have been able to give away 85 dresses.”

The Prom Boutique only exists through the generosity of the community. Donations of dresses, shoes and accessories can be made at the Student Services office on the 3rd floor of the USAO Student Center or arrangements can be made to pick them up.

Now in its ninth year, the Prom Boutique is hosted by USAO Student Services and is in one of several events making up the university’s campus-wide day of community service: Drover Difference Day.
