Alumni Association encourages end-of-year donations to student scholarships

In light of the holiday season, the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Alumni Association is encouraging end-of-year donations to the annual student scholarship fund. Every gift, no matter the dollar amount, will receive a USAO Alumni-branded mask in recognition of their generosity.

An online order form is available at usao.edu/alumni/give or donors can text the words “DROVER ALUM” to 44321 for a quick and secure giving option. Any mailed gifts should be received by Dec. 17 so that they can be processed before campus closes for winter break, otherwise masks will be mailed once campus reopens in January 2021.

“The USAO Alumni Association Board of Directors believe there is nothing more important than investing in our students—our future alumni—through the alumni scholarship program. When we say Drover Alum Since Day One, we mean it!” said Misti McClellan, director of alumni and community development. “Please remember that every single gift—no matter how small—makes a very real difference in the life of a USAO student.”

Every year, the USAO Alumni Association provides tens of thousands of dollars in merit-based funds through its named scholarship program, which honors the lasting legacy of alumni, faculty, staff and friends of the college. The association oversees more than 100 scholarships available to students of many different majors and backgrounds. A committee within the board of directors selects recipients based on scholastic achievement, character and leadership potential, in addition to the general requirements of full-time enrollment and a minimum 2.5 GPA.

First organized in 1917, the USAO Alumni Association has worked to strengthen the university and its students through special projects and scholarships for over a century. All USAO alumni are automatically members of the association and enjoy multiple benefits as well as regular communications. Comprised of a diverse body of alumni, the all-volunteer board of directors meets four times a year to provide leadership and vision for the more than 10,000 active alumni throughout the world.
