Frances Marian York returned home to the Lord on October 19, 2016. Fran was born February 24, 1925, to her parents Joe F. Ray and Mary Ellen Ray. She married her high school sweetheart, Lt. Charles M. York, in Pueblo, Colorado, on December 9, 1944, shortly before he went overseas in WWII with the Army Air Corp. She was graduated from Northeast High School in 1943, where she enjoyed drama, the Norkett Pep Club, and served as a commencement speaker. She also attended the Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK. During her working years she discovered her passion for hospital volunteer work, eventually reaching the directorship of both Children's Hospital and University Hospital and eventually moving to St. Anthony Hospital in the same position. She served as President of the American Society of Directors of Volunteers in 1976. Fran was a second generation member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church, where she and her husband were actively involved in many church activities, especially with their church family in the Clyde Harrison Class. She loved all types of music, but country music, and especially Alan Jackson, were her favorites. She was preceded in death by her husband Charlie, and by her brother, Joe C. Ray. She is survived by her son, Randy, and his wife Kathy, of Edmond OK, and by her sister-in-law, Glenda Ray, of Norman, OK, and one granddaughter and her husband, one great granddaughter, two nieces and one nephew. A Life Celebration Service will be held Monday, October 24, 10:00am, at St. Luke's, 222 NW 15. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke's United Methodist Church in Oklahoma.Arrangements under the direction of Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Funeral Directors, Oklahoma City, OK.
