Chloey Orosco has been selected to represent the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma at the 2024 George and Donna Nigh Leadership Academy.

Orosco, a senior, is majoring in English with a literature emphasis, she plans to pursue a master's in library science after graduation.

Students selected for the Nigh Academy exemplify strong leadership qualities, high academic achievement and participate in meaningful community involvement. The Nigh Scholarship is reserved for outstanding students preparing to enter public service careers. Selected students receive a one-time $1,000 Leadership Scholarship.

“Chloey embodies the interdisciplinary spirit of USAO from her excellence in the classroom to her investment in the betterment of our campus community. She leads by example, allowing the whole team to shine. Chloey will be a fantastic addition to the Nigh Academy in 2024 and a great representative of USAO.” said Kelli Monroe, director of student success.

While attending the academy, students will have access to professional workshops on expanding personal skills and understanding of leadership, as well as networking opportunities. When asked what she was most excited to experience during the academy Orosco said, “I am most excited to make new connections with students from across the state of Oklahoma!”

“In classrooms and across campus, Chloey defines student leadership,” said Sheppard McConnell, vice president for enrollment management and student life. “When not mastering lectures, she's driving record fundraising for Children's Miracle Network through our campus Droverthon initiative. Then, in a different kind of leadership, she sparks the next generation's Drover spirit through inspiring tours. Saying she's crucial to the USAO family is like whispering about a wildfire; the Nigh Award roars applause for what she's done and what's yet to come.”
