The City of Chickasha has officially declared Sunday, Nov. 16, 2025, as "Taste the World" Day", recognizing the first annual cultural food festival hosted by the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma's International Students Club. The official proclamation by Mayor Zachary Grayson highlights the event's role in celebrating global diversity and strengthening community ties.

“Whereas the USAO International Students Club not only helps students adjust to student life, but helps build strong connections with Chickasha through community service…” Declared Mayor Zachary Grayson. “…Therefore it be resolved by the Mayor and City Council, that November 16, 2025, be proclaimed as “Taste the World Day” in Chickasha, Oklahoma.”

The "Taste the World" cultural food festival is free and open to the public, scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Nov. 16 in the USAO Ballroom. The event will feature authentic cuisine prepared by students representing more than 15 countries, including Antigua and Barbuda, Argentina, Brazil, Ghana, Iceland, Jamaica, Norway, Serbia, and Spain.

“We are truly grateful for the support we get from USAO and the Chickasha community,” quoted Matija Malenovic, a representative for the International Students Club. “With this event, we want to create an even stronger bond with people from this town, introduce our cultures to them and show appreciation for having an opportunity to be here. As a club, we hope to accomplish an easier transition for incoming international students so they can grow faster and get more opportunities to be great and contribute to USAO and Chickasha. We hope to make everyone in Chickasha aware of the amazing people that come through this school from all over the world, and we hope to create meaningful friendships and connections through the club.”

Attendees are encouraged to sample the diverse array of international dishes and participate in a community vote for their favorite. The winning dish will be cooked and offered on the campus cafeteria menu by Sodexo, USAO’s on-campus catering service.

Matija Malenovic, a senior USAO student and International Students Club representative, reinforced the club's goal of outreach.

“We look forward giving back through community service.” Said Crispin Mbii, President of the International Students Club. “As our slogan reminds us, “United by gratitude, driven to serve” and we’re trusting God’s will for our club."

Congratulations to the International Students Club!
