The Oklahoma Student Government Association Spring Conference is set to convene at the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma from April 19-21, providing students hands-on experience and valuable career skills, exposing them to dynamic discussions and environments.

This statewide event fosters student networking and leadership development while also providing an opportunity for students to sponsor legislation and advocate for the advancement of higher education in Oklahoma.

Three USAO students serve on the current OSGA board of directors; Halli Humphrey, president; Savannah Alldredge, vice president; and Destini Bliss, treasurer. Mallory Emerson serves on the cabinet as the president’s advisory, while Mason Alldredge serves as the coordinator of access and opportunity.

“Congress by itself is an incredible experience because students from all over the state come together to work for a better higher education system,” said Humphrey. “I would like to think that everyone who participates gets something of value from it, including myself. We want to honor everyone in OSGA, including all graduating seniors along with the institutions who have chosen to be members.”

During the conference, OSGA will hold their first-ever inauguration ceremony scheduled for April 20 at 7 p.m. President Kayla Hale, USAO, and Chancellor Allison Garrett, Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, will be the featured speakers at the inauguration ceremony. Tickets for the ceremony can be purchased at myosga.org/inauguration.

“I never imagined that I would be planning an event of this caliber as a student in college. It has taught me how to be an effective leader and how to manage my time in the most efficient way,” said Humphrey. “I have also benefited greatly from the networking opportunities. I’ve talked with almost every institution in Oklahoma whether it be their SGA advisor, or their COSA member.”
