How often do you think about the Roman Empire? According to the recent TikTok trend, men think about it quite often, sometimes daily. Women, on the other hand, don’t think about the Roman Empire often at all.

On Thursday, March 14 at 5:30 p.m. the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma will present Dr. Daniel Gargola, author and renowned history professor at the University of Kentucky. The topic of his talk will be “The Fall of the Roman Republic in the Western Tradition.”

This event is free and open to the public, and will be held in the Davis Hall Amphitheater.

“The opportunity to hear Dr. Gargola speak on this topic is extraordinary for students, faculty and staff,” said Dr. Kevin Crow, professor of history and organizer of the event. “I consider the Roman Empire as often as any normal historian would, I suppose.”

Professor Gargola specializes in the political, religious, and legal history of the Roman republic and early empire. A list of his publications include but are not limited to, “The Romans: from village to empire”, “A brief history of the Romans”, “The shape of the Roman Order: The Republic and its spaces”.
