Ryan Moses, a history major at the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma, has been awarded the 2024 Chancellor Glen D. Johnson Scholarship in Leadership and Public Service. Moses, from Moore, is set to graduate in 2026.

The Chancellor Glen D. Johnson Scholarship in Leadership and Public Service honors Johnson’s commitment to increasing the number of college graduates in Oklahoma to meet the state’s current and future workforce needs.

“The State Regents are proud to recognize exceptional students with the Chancellor Glen D. Johnson Scholarship in Leadership and Public Service,” said Chancellor Allison D. Garrett. “Each recipient is an inspirational leader with a clear commitment to serving others and making a difference in their communities. We wish them well in their academic and career pursuits.”

The scholarship is awarded each year to outstanding college students attending one of Oklahoma’s public colleges or universities who demonstrate strong leadership potential, a significant commitment to community engagement activities, and interest in pursuing a career in public service.

"Congratulations to Ryan on receiving the 2024 Chancellor Glen D. Johnson Scholarship in Leadership and Public Service," said President Kayla Hale. "This award reflects their exemplary dedication, leadership and commitment to public service. Ryan is an inspiration to us all, and I can’t wait to see the impact they continue to make in our community and beyond."

Each year, the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education awards six students the Chancellor Glen D. Johnson Scholarship in Leadership and Public Service. Recipients are selected by a committee appointed by the OSRHE based on their leadership experience and a demonstrated interest in public service, community engagement and civic participation.

“It was my privilege to represent Oklahoma at the state and national level as chancellor of the state system of higher education from 2007 until 2021,” said Chancellor Emeritus Glen D. Johnson. “Public service has always been my life’s goal, and I am deeply honored to recognize the first cohort of students to receive this scholarship, which celebrates their dedication to civic engagement, advocacy and leadership.”
