USAO Student Nominated for Prestigious Scholarship
The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma is proud to announce the nomination of Trinity Chatman, a junior communications major, for the George and Donna Nigh Public Service Scholarship. Nominated by USAO President Dr. Kayla Hale, Chatman is recognized for her academic excellence and her commitment to public service and campus leadership.
The George and Donna Nigh Public Service Scholarship was established by the Oklahoma State Legislature to provide opportunities for outstanding students who are preparing for careers in public service. Each year, presidents of Oklahoma colleges may nominate one student for this competitive $1,000 scholarship.
Chatman, who minors in business and museum studies, currently serves as the vice president of the Student Government Association (SGA) and works as an admissions tour guide. Her leadership on campus is defined by a mission of inclusivity and student engagement.
“Trinity has demonstrated remarkable leadership in student government and student life,” said President Kayla Hale. “She is an enthusiastic campus advocate and an exceptional student who embodies the spirit of public service. Trinity is precisely what this scholarship represents.”
Beyond her legislative roles, Chatman is a multifaceted student athlete and entrepreneur. Within the USAO community, Chatman is known for her efforts to bridge the gap between different areas of the university.
“I want to bring science, math, athletes, and art students together,” Chatman said. “I want us to be seen as one.”
Chatman intends to continue to advocate for her peers and continue her leadership trajectory at USAO, with plans to run for SGA president in the upcoming term.
