Wrecking Ball 2026: 24 Hour Film Race
Art Wrecker Studios – a Chickasha local art gallery affiliated with the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma – and Intellego Media are calling on filmmakers of all skill levels to gear up for the 5th annual Wrecking Ball Film Festival. The 24-hour filmmaking competition will take place from April 17th to April 18th, challenging participants to write, shoot, and edit original short films in a single 24-hour period.
This fast-paced race officially kicks off April 17th at 11:59 p.m. To ensure originality, all competitors will be assigned a random genre, prop, and line of dialogue at the start of the event. Teams will compete for a variety of cash prizes.
Jordan Vinyard, Professor of Art and Director of Art Wrecker Studios, encourages filmmakers to “be playful, courageous, and to push the boundaries of creativity.”
“As we head into year five, it’s been rewarding to see how this event has supported creatives in our community.” Vinyard states. “From brilliant films to unforgettable memories, it’s always a new adventure.”
Following the competition, a public screening and awards ceremony will be held on April 25th at 6:00 p.m. in the Davis Hall Amphitheater, located on the USAO campus. The event will showcase the top-tier submissions and winner from several special categories.
The festivities will conclude with the “Brews and B-Roll After Party’, from 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The party will be hosted at the Production House, home of Intellego Media, located at 502 W. Chickasha Avenue.
“I’m so excited for this year’s Wrecking Ball Film Festival,” Quoted Reagan Elkins, founder and CEO of Intellego Media. “Seeing filmmakers of all levels come together, take creative risks, and bring wild ideas to life is what it’s all about. I can’t wait for all the creative chaos again this year.”
The Wrecking Ball Film Festival is an annual staple for the USAO and Chickasha creative communities, fostering local talent and rapid-response storytelling.
