Auditions set for December performance of The Nutcracker
Ballet dancers of all ages are invited to audition for a spot in the exciting Christmas production of The Nutcracker by the St. Petersburg Ballet, brought to Chickasha by the Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series.
The Willis Ballet Company is scheduled to hold auditions for local dancers Oct. 11-12
beginning at noon in the Te Ata Memorial Auditorium at the University of Science and
Arts of Oklahoma. Registration is scheduled from 11 a.m-noon. Auditions are for minor
and supporting roles for ages four to adult, said Dr. Ken Bohannon, coordinator of
the Davis-Waldorf Performing Arts Series and associate professor of music at USAO.
One public performance of The Nutcracker Ballet is scheduled Dec. 9 at USAO. Tickets
are available for the show at the USAO Business Office in Troutt Hall.
The cast list will be posted after the auditions conclude on Oct. 11. Immediately
following that posting, a stage rehearsal for the show is schedule. The exact time
of the rehearsal will be announced at the end of the auditions, Bohannon said.
A three- to five-hour rehearsal of the complete ballet is scheduled for Oct. 12. “Attendance
at both rehearsals is required for those interested in performing,” Bohannon said.
Regular rehearsals are scheduled for Saturday afternoons Oct. 12-Dec. 9. Rehearsals
are required for all participants. A $25 costume cleaning fee will be charged to each
dancer.
