USAO graduate Heather Hogan Fellenstein says that the opportunity to be instrumental in providing services to children with special needs in her library system has been one of the highlights of her career so far.

“I was one of the first staff members to offer sensory time in the Pioneer Library System,” Fellenstein said. “When I was hired to work in the Children's Services Department at the Moore Library, I knew sensory story time was something our department needed and I really pushed for that program to be added to our list of regular programming. I have been conducting and presenting sensory story times at the Moore Public Library since 2013.”

She is a public services associate in the Children’s Services Department at Moore Public Library in Moore, Oklahoma. Fellenstein graduated from USAO with a psychology degree in 2010.

Fellenstein considers choosing the psychology program as the best choice she made during her educational career. “I really enjoyed my time at USAO. It was the perfect place for me to get my degree in psychology.

“The psych program and department there are great and all of the professors are talented, caring and professional. I really appreciated the opportunity to volunteer for the Special Olympics for class credit. I volunteered two summers in a row and believe those experiences really helped me later on in my career. It was also just a great opportunity to do good in the community,” she added.
