CHICKASHA – Sixteen college seniors are being inducted into the top honor society at the University of Science and Arts. The new Hypatia Honor Society initiates will be recognized Nov. 2 at a special luncheon highlighting the academic accomplishes of the elite group.

The Hypatia Honor Society was founded in 1923 to honor students for their high academic achievements, character and integrity and service to the university and their community. The honor society was named after Hypatia, the famous Greek female mathematician. Students are selected for Hypatia by a faculty committee, and it is not possible for any student to apply for membership in the Honor Society.

The following seniors will be honored at the luncheon:

Seminole art major Lauren Biddy; Chickasha chemistry major Brady Crane; Healdton computer science major Jessica Darling; Chickasha business major Julie Fowler; Moore physical education major Natalie Grounds; Chickasha English major Michael Morris; Poplarville, Miss. art major Sabrina Myrick; Tulsa English major Stacy Neely; Covington business major Cody Peacock; Chickasha business major Riley Prather; Chickasha art major Amy Widener; Marlow speech language major Donald Hoyt Jr.; Mustang communication major Carissa Jones; Chickasha chemistry major Jonathan Roberts; deaf education major Brittany Schultz and early childhood development major Laura Schultz, both of Tulsa.

Hypatia sponsors include Dr. Nancy Warden, chairman and professor of mathematics; Dr. Mike Mather, professor of biology; Dr. Kent Lamar, professor of art and Dr. Nancy Hector, assistant professor of education.
