Students from the Harding Fine Arts Academy recently visited the campus of the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, accompanied by Dr. Irene Lam, who serves on Harding's board of directors.

Harding Fine Arts Academy was founded in 2005 and was the first certified Oklahoma A+ school. The academy accepts 150 students per year and has as its stated mission to integrate the fine arts with a college preparatory curriculum.

The students visited USAO with Lam in February to tour the campus and get a first-hand look at the university’s lauded arts programs.

Lam, an optometrist from Oklahoma City, has partnered with the USAO Foundation on several occasions to host concerts at the historic Gold Dome building. Those benefit concerts provided needed scholarship funds to USAO students and support for the Gold Dome Multicultural Society.

Lam is scheduled to visit China in the summer of 2011 to help spread the word about USAO’s unique interdisciplinary curriculum.
