New scholarship available to Concert Choir and Band members

The Division of Arts and Humanities is thrilled to announce a new scholarship available to students in need. The Reuther scholarship is a 1-year, renewable, $1,000 ($500 per trimester) scholarship available to full-time USAO students, both music and non-music majors.

The competitive, talent-based scholarship requires participation in MUSC 1051, concert choir, and/or MUSC 1081, concert band. Students may be awarded multiple Reuther scholarships if they participate in both ensembles. Priority will go to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who received talent scholarships as freshmen, or who are a voice-type or instrumentalist that is considered an "area of need" for their chosen ensemble.

Students must be enrolled in the ensemble in both the fall and spring trimesters of the academic year for which the scholarship is awarded. Students must remain in good standing in the ensemble, according to the syllabus criteria, and receive an A grade in the course to be considered for scholarship renewal. Students must enroll proactively in the course for which they are receiving the scholarship. Failure to do so by May 1, for fall, or by Dec 1, for spring, could result in the loss of the scholarship.

To apply for the Reuther Scholarship, follow this link and fill out the online form: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScHICDLcOeFDJxNJj6IXbhURnU2s9Scqdj9tzO1Ud19Rpc2eQ/viewform. Applications must be received by Nov. 15 for consideration for spring 2018.

In addition to the application, students must have a recent USAO financial aid update form on file: https://usao.edu/forms/2018-2019-financial-aid-office-update-form.
