The University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma’s Nesbitt Gallery invites the public to the opening reception of Retro-Focus: A Display of Vintage Cameras from the USAO Permanent Collection on Saturday, Oct. 5, at 6 p.m. The exhibition is free and will remain on display through Nov. 2.

Retro-Focus showcases an impressive array of 20th-century cameras, offering visitors a glimpse into the evolution of photographic technology. The cameras were donated by USAO faculty, both past and present, including Dr. Jerry Hargis and his wife Jeane, Drs. Charles (Mike) and Jeanne Mather, and Dr. Brenda Brown, dean of the School of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies, and her husband Chris Brown.

The exhibit was curated and designed by students in USAO’s new museum studies program. Evonne Paul served as exhibition curator, with Barri McCauley overseeing gallery space design. Former intern Meagan Clark contributed as research curator.

“This is a great opportunity for the public to see the many wonderful vintage cameras housed in USAO’s Permanent Collection,” said Professor Layne Thrift, director of Nesbitt Gallery. “It is the first time the gallery has hosted a historical collection exhibition.”
