USAO President Kayla Hale Congratulates Sean Burrage as New Chancellor

Dr. Kayla Hale, president of the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma, congratulates Sean Burrage on being unanimously named the next chancellor of the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education. Burrage, currently serving as vice president for executive affairs and chief of staff at the University of Oklahoma, will assume his role as Oklahoma’s 10th chancellor on Dec. 2, 2024, succeeding Chancellor Allison Garrett.

“Congratulations to Sean Burrage on his selection as Chancellor of the Oklahoma State System of Higher Education,” said Hale. “His extensive experience in higher education and the state legislature will serve all of us well as he leads Oklahoma's public colleges and universities through a new chapter of transformational success.”

Burrage previously served as president of Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where he significantly increased enrollment and streamlined operations. He is also recognized for his legislative work, having authored over 50 bills during his time in the Oklahoma State Senate.
