USAO sees double-digit increase in spring enrollment
The University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma has seen a double-digit increase in enrollment for the spring 2024 term.
Overall, enrollment increased 10.9 percent compared to spring 2023. The freshman class saw the largest increase, with 28.3 percent more than last year. Furthermore, the institution boasts an impressive 87 percent persistence rate in first-time freshmen returning for the spring 2024 semester.
This success is attributed in part to initiatives through USAO’s Student Success Center, which is dedicated to facilitating a smooth transition for students from high school to college to graduation.
"The rise in enrollment reflects our steadfast dedication to fostering student success. At the heart of our institutional efforts is the SSC, which offers every USAO student a robust support system. This underscores our commitment to guiding our students through their academic journey," said Kelli Monroe, director of student success. "Through the integration of innovative strategies and the adoption of a holistic approach to student success, our mission extends beyond academic outcomes. We strive to create an inclusive atmosphere where every student is recognized, encouraged, and equipped with the knowledge and confidence necessary to thrive at USAO."
The SSC's commitment to student success is evident in its implementation of a new approach to freshman enrollment management, prioritizing the growth and development of every student. Centralized First Year Advisement offers freshmen of all majors equitable and empowering advisement sessions conducted by trained success coaches, who provide comprehensive support beyond course registration.

By offering a wide array of support —from academic advising to career exploration and tutoring and mentoring services —all under one roof and at no cost to students, the SSC demonstrates a deep understanding of the challenges students encounter and the resources required for their success.
