USAO Partners with 24/7 Mental Health Virtual Care Platform

CHICKASHA, OK — The University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) announced a major enhancement to student well-being services with the launch of TimelyCare, a telemental/telehealth platform for universities. The partnership follows an initiative by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education to fund the use of TimelyCare at every state public university in support of the growing mental and physical health needs of Oklahoma college students.
Beginning in August, all USAO students will have free, 24/7 access to mental health support, medical care, and basic needs assistance through the TimelyCare platform—resources designed to foster student success and retention.
“Students today face unprecedented challenges, and their health and well-being are directly tied to their ability to succeed in the classroom,” said USAO President, Kayla Hale. “This partnership with TimelyCare ensures our students have access to the care and support they need—anytime, anywhere.”
With this partnership, USAO students will be able to access a broad range of services at no cost and without the need for insurance, including:
- On-demand and appointment-based medical care
- TalkNow: 24/7 access to mental health and emotional support
- Scheduled mental health counseling (up to six sessions per academic year)
- Health coaching
- Basic Needs assistance
- Care navigation
- Peer support community
- Digital self-care content
The demand for mental health services on college campuses continues to grow. According to a recent TimelyCare survey, 70% of college students nationwide are experiencing mental health issues, and nearly three-quarters believe that better access to support services would increase their likelihood of graduating. Notably, nearly 80% of students credit TimelyCare with helping them stay enrolled and perform better academically.
"Mental health is the number one reason students drop out of college," added Dawn Brockman, USAO Dean of Students. “TimelyCare provides a vital safety net and expands our ability to meet students where they are—especially after hours and on weekends.”
TimelyCare’s outcomes reflect its effectiveness:
- Clinically significant symptom improvement often occurs by the third scheduled visit for students entering care with severe depression or anxiety.
- Students commonly experience a drop in severity—from moderate to mild symptoms—within just a few sessions.
- Half of TimelyCare visits take place outside of regular business hours, meeting students at their time of greatest need.
- 90% of users say they would recommend the service to a friend or classmate.
“TimelyCare is honored to partner with the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma’s incredible team to address the growing need for accessible, high-quality mental health and medical support,” said Luke Hejl, CEO and co-founder of TimelyCare. “By combining our team-based approach with the expertise of campus professionals, we can provide the unique care that campus communities need to thrive—academically, emotionally, and personally.”
With the launch of this new platform, USAO underscores its commitment to fostering a healthy, supportive learning environment where every student has the resources to succeed.
