What is Title IX?
Title IX prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in the University's education programs and activities. USAO is committed to a prompt, fair, and impartial response to all reports.

Mandated reporters: Most USAO employees are mandated reporters and must share reports of harassment, discrimination, or retaliation with the Title IX Coordinator. If you want to keep something confidential, start with a confidential resource above.
Supportive measures are available whether or not a formal complaint is filed — non-disciplinary, no-cost measures such as counseling referrals, no-contact orders, academic deadline extensions or schedule changes, housing or work-arrangement changes, and campus safety escorts.
Notice: Inquiries about the application of Title IX may be referred to the University's Title IX Coordinator, the U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights, or both.
Your Rights Under Title IX
The University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma is committed to creating and maintaining an environment for all students, faculty and staff which is free of objectionable and disrespectful conduct and communication. The university PROHIBITS gender discrimination in any form, including sexual harassment. All students, faculty and staff are required to comply with this policy.

This guide is intended to help explain the USAO’ responsibility under Title IX and the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

Educational opportunities regarding sexual assault and its prevention are offered through the Student Services office. Programming will continue to be offered to the residence halls, athletic teams, as well as other interested groups.
Confidentiality shall be maintained to the greatest extent possible within the requirements of conducting reasonable investigations. Only those who have an immediate need to know may find out the identity of the parties.
It is illegal to retaliate against anyone who complains about sexual harassment or assists in a sexual harassment complaint. Retaliation, threats, or other forms of intimidation against any party involved will not be tolerated.
